The Crazy Magical Story That Led Back to My Two Books + This Course!
I want you to know how I came to design this course. It's kind of a crazy yet magical story because it came out of what seemed like an end-of-the-world-worst-thing-that-could-happen experience.
I lost one of my best friends to cancer just before Thanksgiving 2021. I let a lot of balls drop in the following months, including warnings that I was about to lose my domain. I thought it was on auto-renew and ignored the emails. I had forgotten that the credit card I had used for the renewals had been stolen. About six seconds after my domain became available, a bot snapped up my domain - this very one you are on - superherooflove.com.
End. Of. The. World.
All emails going to bridget@superherooflove.com were also no longer mine.
I had to pivot and look hard at what mattered to me most about my Superhero of Love journey, what really made my heart sing, and where I would go from there.
I gave myself time, and during that period of contemplation, I realized that since I was a small child, creating beauty has been an unstated passion, that even drove many life decisions and, in fact, motivated me most. My friends will all tell you about the crazy projects I have done, massive hours spent, in pursuit of creating beauty.
And then....I realized why.
I realized that when anyone created something beautiful for me, I felt loved.
I realized that when I created beauty it was so others would feel loved.
From baking
to flower arranging
to setting a dinner party table
to creating an altar
to making a nourishing meal
to addressing a card
to designing my home
I'm always looking to create beauty as an expression of my love for my friends and family.
I also realized that my two books are a testament to this lifelong pursuit for people to feel more love - often through the addition of inner or outer beauty.
The main tenet of my book, Superhero of Love: Heal Your Broken Heart & Then Go Save the World, is to inspire us all to love and be loved more. To further explore the contents of the book, I created and produced over 100 episodes of the Superhero of Love Podcast where I spoke to people who could further inspire that tenet. I created Love Forward Talks (which is like TED Talks for the heart) where the speakers inspire the heck out of us to love and be loved more! (Both of those will be back in 2023, by the way!)
My first book, which I co-wrote with Judie O'Neill, The Lazy Woman's Guide to Just About Everything, was born because I had been writing a book on how to throw a dinner party with less stress. One day Judie told me that this title had popped into her head in the wee hours of the morning. I said "That's my book times a million!" So we wrote that book which is full of quick easy tips to create more beauty in our lives while decreasing stress and increasing joy. Our beautifying techniques (including my major beautifying passion for flower design) were featured on HGTV.
It had never occurred to me how these books overlapped in this way. Beauty and love are themes throughout both.
And now, here we all are after three full years of pandemic living, and a lot of beauty and love has slipped through our fingers. Beautiful friendships have drifted away. Some have stopped attending to their self-care as they used to. Some have increased the clutter in their homes and lives. Some have become increasingly afraid of the world. Some have harder edges, barnacles on their hearts, from the losses they have endured.
Do you see what I mean about neighborhoods of our hearts? The little corners where the street lights went out because we just... couldn't. The yard overgrown with weeds because we just kind of forgot why it used to be important to us.
I have designed this course to help us uncover all the parts of our hearts that need our attention -- to UNpandemicize our hearts -- with the addition of inner and outer beauty. The end result? With clearer, lighter, more open hearts, we will all be more able to love and be loved more. We will be energized to focus on what truly matters to us, reignite what I call the Mighty Flame in our hearts, and grab out capes and fly again.

What have I done to bring me to the place where I have some ability to lead you through this process?
- Superhero of Love offers a system to move through a heart transformation. We will use some of the tools in that book.
- I have done an enormous amount of personal growth work, the two most important to my development were Debbie Ford's Shadow Process (you will see it woven through the Superhero of Love work) and Landmark Education where integrity became a guiding light in my life.
- I started meditating when I was 18, have been to India several times to do that very thing, and continue to dive deeply into the divine waters to be a more kind and loving person.
- I had an angel store in Old Town Pasadena in the early 90's - The Angel Store - where I led regular meditation groups. In terms of inner and outer beauty, hat store was featured on CNN, HGTV, on the show "The Other Side" and its interior design was also specifically featured on HGTV.
- I have led many workshops from the tenets of both books.
- I make beauty happen, make its creation easy and accessible. And I have a knack for helping others create inner and outer beauty so they can tap into their Superheroes of Love - more able to love and be loved!
- I have written a zillion articles for Thrive Global, HuffPo and other online and print outlets mostly giving tips to add inner and outer beauty.
